End of Year Celebration 2025

Handyfolk workdays are an opportunity to gather as a community and work together to take care of our shared outdoor play environment. We invite you to come join us — helping hands of any and all ages are welcome. Zingerman’s crullers will be provided to kickstart the hard work!
Saturday, 5/24/25
10am – 2pm
Calling on all green thumbs, and those who want to learn! We’ll be filling our garden beds with some annuals, native perennials, and an abundance of vegetable crops and herbs.
It’s almost time for the annual capoeira Batizado celebration, where our youngest capoeiristas show off their skills to earn their belts after a year of hard work and preparation. All family members are invited to attend and participate — get ready to move!
Capoeira is a core part of our Movement Arts and Skillful Togetherness Curriculums. You can watch this video to learn more about what to expect: What is a capoeira Batizado?

We will tap into strength-based teamwork with many busy projects and tasks to get involved with: gardening, landscaping, construction, and even some painting!
We are excited to announce that the U School will be partnering with PaperPie Learning (formerly Usborne Books and More) to host a fundraising Book Fair, bringing a fantastic selection of engaging, high-quality books for all ages! This is a wonderful opportunity to build your child’s home library while also supporting our classrooms and school library in honor of National Reading Month in March.
Families can shop and order books online by visiting https://paperpie.com/brandpartner/Z4509/event/4053780. The U School will receive 50% of the sales to purchase our own books for the classrooms and our library.
Lil Footballers provides an opportunity for preschoolers to learn the game of soccer. This “all about the fun” class will introduce soccer basics as children, ages 3-5, experience being part of a team. Isley Brown is also the coach of Lil Hoopers basketball and U School substitute teacher. Kelvin Hughes is a U School parent and former semi-professional football player. Heidi Burns will also serve as assistant coach. We are very fortunate to have three incredible coaches with a combined wealth of knowledge in both early childhood and football!
We’re excited to announce that Lead Teacher of 3/4A and our resident mindfulness coach, Charlie Sutherland, has just launched a new and vastly expanded mindfulness program, to cultivate happier and more effective humans!
(To learn more about Charlie’s previous work with mindfulness at the U School, you can visit the Mindful Parents & Educators course page.)
Come join us for the next Lexicon Circle conversation to talk about the benefits of healthy and developmentally appropriate risk taking.
